Spanish defender Alejandro Grimaldo has been a revelation since moving to Bayer Leverkusen from Benfica. The 28-year-old left-back has quickly established himself as a key player for the Bundesliga club, impressing with his attacking and defensive abilities. Born in Barcelona, Grimaldo began his career with the city's famed La Masia academy. He made his senior debut for Barcelona B in 2013 and spent two seasons with the team, making over 50 appearances. In 2016, Grimaldo joined Benfica, where he quickly became a regular starter. He made over 200 appearances for the Portuguese giants, winning two Primeira Liga titles and one Taça de Portugal.
